Yvonne,
Yes, you can mix B3s and B4s, as long as they're from the same source
of blight resistance, at either the straight B3/B4 level or as B3-F2s/
B4-F2s. Of course you also don't want to be mixing the straight
backcrosses with the backcross F2s, nor the backcross F3s with F2s, etc.
