Hi MA Chestnuteers!

This coming Sat, June 13th, the MA Chapter will be inoculating two of their
breeding orchards, located in Wayland and Lincoln, MA. This is the first
step towards selecting the best trees for the next generation of breeding.
We will be meeting at the Peace Lutheran Church parking lot (directions
below, and on the MA-TACF website) in Wayland, MA at 8:30am and then heading
out to the Wayland orchard, just behind the church. We should finish up
with this orchard by 11:00-ish (with enough help!) and will then caravan
over to the Lincoln orchard, where parking is more limited.

We could use some help, so please let us know if you plan to join us. There
are jobs for all skill levels, so if you've never inoculated we'll teach you
the ropes and match you with a good task. Please do bring a lunch, water
and bug spray, if you have it. I should warn folks, there is a good bit of
poison ivy in the Lincoln orchard, so long pants are recommended.
Additionally, there is a healthy tick population, so please dress so you can
tuck your pants into your socks. Tall socks (for tucking) and light colored
clothes are recommended to avoid ticks, and "high test" bug spray can help,
if you are comfortable using it. I know this isn't the best selling point
for helping us out, but want you all to be well prepared.

Again, please send a note back of you plan to join us - we'd love to have
your help!

Hope to see you Sat -

Kendra

Directions to Peace Lutheran Church (meeting place):

>From Wayland Center, head north on Rte 126 about one mile. Travelling north
on Rte 126, you will pass Training Field and Claypit Hill roads just before
reaching the church, which will be on the right. There is a red sign for
the Peace Lutheran Church, as well as a smaller sign for the Sudbury Valley
Trustees, by the parking lot. We will meet towards the back of the parking
lot, where there is a trail out to the orchard. If you arrive late, the
trail starts by a kiosk at the back (north) end of the parking lot, and you
will follow it for a short distance and take a right at the first opening -
the orchard is just a short distance from this point. The church is located
at 107
