Maybe trees just tend to be more erratic up here, for whatever reason. 

 Also, I have many orchard trees which are pushing 30 ft. now, and in full 
sun, and they have yet to bloom at all. (The blighted ones do generally get 
goosed into bloom when smaller.) 

I sometimes wonder what the implications of this would be to our local 
breeding program, and whether giving the trees certain nutrients (or withholding 
them from them) would push them into bloom earlier in their life span. Of 
course all our inoculated BC trees will be goosed by blight to some degree I 
guess.   John
