Hi Kathy,
We think that partnering with the Trustees of Reservations is a wonderful idea! We would be glad to help in any way. Maybe we could have a field trip to see Peaked Mountain sometime soon.

Hello All,
I am forwarding my communication with Josh Knox, Superintendent, Trustees of
Reservations at the "Peaked Mountain" property. If anyone is interested in
visiting this property or entering into a discussion prior to our next board
meeting please let me know.
I mistakenly thought that this was discussed prior to my arrival at the
board meeting last week. When I realized it hadn't been brought up I
discussed it with Rufin and he thought that this would be a good
collaboration. The Trustees have been around for over 100 years and own
properties throughout the state. I am aware of a new property in Uxbridge
"Cormier Woods", which was just dedicated on Oct. 18, 2008. It has chestnut
sprouts along the trails. Also the superintendent at the North Andover
Trustees property has been offered the opportunity to transplant a chestnut
tree from Ed Crafts, who some of you may remember donated trivets and
candleholders to our chapter.
Susan and Gerry commented on the lovely woodwork that Ed had done with
chestnut.
Another property that is close to our Stockbridge Orchard is Monument
Mountain. If anyone else has contacts with the Trustees perhaps we could
invite them to the April board meeting. It sounds like a wonderful way to
gather more help from all around the state.
Kathy

Hi Josh,
Thanks for contacting me, I'd like to discuss this also. I've copied Rufin
VanBossuyt on this as well, since he coordinates new plantings. We think
that collaborating with the Trustees is a great idea and like the location.
I will focus on this more next week and seek input from Charlotte Zampini
who also coordinates the plantings. We'd be interested in identifying any
surviving trees on the property as well. These serve as a great educational
opportunity for the publ
ic.
The next few days will be busy for me as there was a death in the family on
Sunday. However I'll focus on more communications next week. I was pleased
to receive the brochure about Peaked mountain and look forward to visiting.
Thanks,

Hi Kathy-
I thought I'd take the opportunity to contact you directly.
We do have a good 3 acre field next to a forest with still struggling
chestnuts.. historically 20?% chestnut?
I would love to talk further with you about how we could use that field to
help your efforts.
