[MassChestnutOrchards] Ordering ACF orchard signs

Hi John -

 

It is my understanding that the $250 is just for the panels, and any framing
for the signs is usually constructed by/for the orchard by the chapter.  At
one of the CT orchards a group from the vo-ag high school constructed an
info kiosk with donated lumber as a class project.  I seem to remember a boy
scout troop looking for a service project in MA - might be a source of help?

Attached are the directions on ordering orchard signs from Daphne Van
Schaick at ACF headquarters in Bennington, VT.  Daphne is the person who
will facilitate our order.

 

So far we have requests for 5 orchard signs:  3 for Yvonne for R.I.
orchards; 1 for John Mirick in Princeton; and 1 for the orchard I manage in
Granville, MA.  The cost is about $250 per sign.

 

I recommend John and Yvonne read Daphne's directions and go to
acf.org/media.php and click on the link to display panels to view a sample
of the sign.  Daphne recommends we rewrite the last paragraph of the 3rd
panel to fit each orchard's characteristics.

 

Also, I suggest John and Yvonne bring to the Jan. 18th mtg a draft of that
3rd panel's last paragraph.  I will do the same and then the Board can
suggest any revisions and vote to approve the wording.  Then I'll send our
sign request to Daphne who will obtain a quote for cost and a proof from the
printer for our Chapter to approval.

 

Jamie, I am not clear on how we obtain the wooden frames for the orchard
signs or their cost.  I'm assuming it is separate from the $250 charge for
the 3 panels. Perhaps you could enlighten me on this by email or at the
meeting.
