Lois and Denis,
Glad to hear that you both came through the ice storm unscathed and that the chestnut trees in MSP did as well.
Cheers,
John Meiklejohn

Paxton was very hard hit with the storm. It's look like a tornado or a hurricane came through! All or our hardwood's lost their tops, and they fell on the rhododendrons! This is the worst ice storm we've ever seen, by a factor of 10! We won't have electricity or running water for several more days.

The chestnut orchard, however, looks great. Maybe because the trees are so young, or maybe because there weren't any larger trees that fell on them, but the chestnuts are fine. We cooked a vegetable stew with chestnuts that I had ordered from Empire Chestnut over the fire last night for dinner - it was delicious.
My folks in Spencer have full power, etc, so we're set for food and showers, thank heaven! Hope everyone is safe and sound, and can keep warm.

  Lois & Denis
